Looking for an absolutely perfect island getaway? For those of you short on time and too busy to plan the vacation you’ve been dreaming of, we have taken it upon ourselves to build your 3-day itinerary to Catalina Island. Each day, wake up to pre-planned and well-thought-out activities to make the most of your time. Take an early weekend and visit our hidden gem — you deserve it!
Day 1
Once you get off the ferry and take your first step on the Island, it is officially vacation time. Head directly to the Avalon, either a 10-15 minute walk or a short taxi ride (insider tip – it’s a bit uphill at the end, so consider your capability to walk.). Then relax, and take in the beautiful view of the ocean from your roof or rooftop deck (4 flights of steps)..
It is your first evening of vacation. Will you stay in and rest up for a full day tomorrow? Or will you choose to explore Avalon under a starry sky?
First things first: Dinner! For your first night on the island, we recommend stopping by one of these delicious local restaurants: The Lobster Trap, Steve’s Steakhouse, or M-Restaurant. It’s your first night of vacation — treat yourself! You can’t go wrong with any of these options. End the night in fresh linens and a climate-controlled bedroom.
Day 2
Wake up to your first full day on the Island. Delight in our complimentary continental breakfast before getting ready for the day ahead.
Take advantage of this full day by heading to the beach — island style. Ocean tours range from 1 hour to a full day. Pick from so many choices – ranging from scuba to sailing and marine life viewing to cruising (find the one that’s right for you). Whether you choose to lounge at one of our epic beaches or have fun on a kayaking adventure, we are confident that you will be in awe of our island’s natural beauty and make memories that will last a lifetime.
After a long day in the sun, grab an early dinner with outdoor seating at The Naughty Fox or enjoy the daily local catch of poke bowls and sushi at NDMK or burgers & salads at Luau Larry’s.
Day 3
It is your final day on the island. Start the morning with our continental breakfast & coffee, or quality time at our rooftop patio, in your bed, or with a 300-ft stroll to the oceanside. After spending a day at sea yesterday, let’s have a look around town.
No matter your skill level, there is a hiking trail for everyone to see just how exquisite our coastal slopes are. Take a leisurely stroll through our island’s conservancy, hiking along the stunning trails. Or, hike the staircases around town for amazing views of the harbor and lovely hills. A day on land will be a day well spent. Find a trail that is right for you.
Next, head over to the Green Pleasure Pier and maybe grab a bite to eat at Avalon Seafood or Eric’s on the Pier — local favorites. Open seasonally. Don’t worry if a fave is closed; there are plenty of other choices in our one-square-mile town.
Taste some of the flavors of Catalina at a local restaurant before drinks and dancing at the Chi Chi Club. Feeling brave? Try your hand at karaoke at the El Galleon restaurant; check their schedule. Looking for something a little more low-key? Ask us about a fun activity to round out the afternoon, such as an Escape Room or a ghost town adventure. There is almost always something happening in Avalon, and we are happy to help you find it!
