Early Check-In
The front desk is open daily from 8 AM – 6 PM and closes later in the high season.
We cannot guarantee for early check-in or late check-out. We know if we may accommodate special requests on the day of arrival or check-out. You may need to purchase another night if you need to arrive very early or depart much later and expect to utilize a room. We can always hold your luggage until your room is ready or leaving the island on a later boat. There is also a luggage service at the boat terminal.
Cancellation Policy

Booking Direct Policy Details
We have a 31-day Cancellation Policy. If you wish to cancel or modify a reservation, you must do so by 3 PM 31-days prior to your arrival date for no fees.
Once within 30 days, the policies are as follows:
- Cancellations made within 7-days of your stay will be charged the first night’s stay.
- If you have to cancel within 8 to 30-days, you’ll be assessed a $50 cancellation fee.
- Packages and extras will be pre-charged and obligated to the cancellation policies of the vendors and partner businesses.
- If you cancel or modify your reservation following the expiration of the Cancellation Period or you fail to show up, a no-show charge will be levied on your credit card for one full night plus tax.
- Non-refundable reservations cannot be canceled or modified – total reservation amount will be charged in case of cancellation or no-show.
- Some packages will be charged in full when you make the reservation.
Third party reservations are subject to the policies stated on the website booked on, i.e. Expedia, Booking.com and/or other affiliates. Utilizing these services are not the same as booking direct with the hotel.
General
The Avalon Hotel is located at 124 Whittley Avenue in Avalon, California. Our Catalina Island hotel can be easily reached by a relaxing hour-long ferry ride, or by a 15-minute helicopter ride. There are four ports available on the mainland of Southern California. We are within walking distance to many of the local attractions in the City of Avalon, which is for the most part a walking town; there are limited shuttles and one taxi service available for hire.
Accessibility Features
The Avalon Hotel is a 1925 vintage hotel property and cannot readily accommodate a wheelchair and mobility access. At this time, we do not have a room that is fully ADA Accessible for mobility impairment for wheelchairs. We do, however, provide the accessibility features for individuals who face audio or visual impairment including braille signage and ADA A/V kits for our guest rooms.
Smoking and Room damage Policy: All Rooms are Non-smoking rooms
The Avalon Hotel guest rooms are 100% vape and smoke-free, and we do charge a fee for smoke-damaged rooms, including for medicinal purposes. If rooms are damaged, the guest is subject to charges of replacement, installation and room losses according to the size of the damage and amount of time the room is off line due to the damages.
Services
We are pleased to offer our guests complimentary Wi-Fi, concierge service, baggage storage, and complimentary shuttle service from the ferry and helicopter in Avalon. For an additional fee, beer, wine, and champagne are available. Additionally, a complimentary continental breakfast is served daily from 7:30 through 10 AM.

Parking is on the mainland near points of departure, and third party fees will apply.
Internet and Mobile Phones
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available for guests. FYI – Our Island connections are not the same as metropolitan areas and you will experience slower service. Download and upload speeds are extremely slow and sometimes non-existence. We highly suggest downloading movies or any large files prior to arrival. Some holidays, busy summer days may have dropped calls and intermittent Internet services. Unplugging can be unexpectedly mandatory, please enjoy our natural surroundings as much as possible.
Children and Extra Beds
Our Family Rooms are 101 and 201. Up to two children or additional adults can be accommodated in our family rooms, 101 and 201 at The Avalon Hotel. These rooms have one queen bed and one double-size murphy bed. There are not additional roll-a-ways, pack ‘n’ plays, or additional beds to utilize as space does not allow this service. We are obligated to follow fire codes which allow for two occupants of most our guest rooms.
Traveling with strollers and wagons, these may stay out in our garden patio. Our building does not have an elevator and is a flight of stairs off the street. We do not want these items going up and down our stairs inside the hotel.
Pets
ADA Defined Service Animals are welcome at our hotel. Absolutely NO PETS or emotional support animals are allowed at our hotel. If you are traveling with an ADA service animal, please contact us upon making your reservation so that we will be able to facilitate the ADA service animal.

Terms & Conditions
This property is privately owned, and the management reserves the right to refuse service to anyone and will not be responsible for accidents or injury to guests or for loss of money, jewelry or valuables of any kind. Once checked in, no cancellations. All linens are inventoried: missing or damaged linens will be charged. Any damages to hotel property will be charged an additional fee upon assessment. NO PETS ALLOWED. Guest rooms that have evidence of pet dander and/or odor will be charged a non-refundable fee for deep cleaning services, starting at $250. Any damages to hotel property will be charged an additional fee upon assessment. All rooms are NON-SMOKING, including vape and cannabis. Guest acknowledges that smoking is not allowed in a guest room. If anyone in guest’s party smokes in the guest room, guest hereby expressly authorizes hotel management to charge credit card the amount to reimburse the property for the additional cost of cleaning guest room, starting at $250. If your reservation has been paid in advance or you elect to pay by cash, a security deposit via credit card will be required upon check-in and will be charged in the event that damages outlined herein occur. The hotel takes one full-night charge, taxes and third party costs 30 days prior to stay and does not accept cash deposits.
