HISTORY OF BISON ON CATALINA ISLAND
Did you know bison were originally brought to Catalina Island for filming The Vanishing American in 1925? The 14 bison left behind by the film crew were allowed to stay on the island and have now become an integral part of the island’s unique natural landscape. Under the care and supervision of the Catalina Island Conservancy, the herd features around 150 bison!
